Netflix Ultraman Rising

Title and Main on ends

Ultraman_titles

Having created the opening titles on Director Shannon Tindle’s previous project Lost Ollie, KOJO was approached to create the opening titles and end credits on Ultraman: Rising. As part of the KOJO team, we collaborated with Tindle, Co-Director John Aoshima and the team from Feature Animation at Netflix to develop the creative narrative and craft the title designs and main on ends. My role on was to work with the team to create the motion for the main on ends.

Creative Direction : Sam Clarke, Luke Pacconi, Jack Prenc
Motion Designers : Anthony Cristiano, Jack Prenc, Val Gunadharma, Luiza Bonetti
Logo and Type design : Sam Clarke
Producer : Lauren Van Renzberg

Main on ends:

The Main On Ends was designed to highlight some of the film’s more emotive moments and was a creative collaboration between KOJO’s motion team and the film’s Art Director Sunmin Inn. Sunmins’ beautiful illustrations were brought to life through the expressive color palette and subtle parallax motion, which helped convey the connection and relationships between the characters, and the overarching theme of balance and family present throughout the film.

Main Titles:

In addition to the main on ends, KOJO also developed the title sequence for the film which was created by Jack Prenc and Val Gunadharma. These titles were inspired by the history of Ultraman.

"The 1967 titles were a testament to the tools of their time, and our approach was to build a title that paid homage to the original, while bringing them into the new era, using the technology of our time.” - Motion design director Jack Prenc
