Australian Gymnastics Competitions | National Champs
Event motion and print design
Australian Gymnastics Competitions (AGC) is company that aims to enhance the positive experience of gymnastics in the community. For their 2025 national championships, I was invited back to assemple a package of animated event graphics introducing revealing their pro level gymnasts and teams, as well as suite of static designs to be used as promotional material and event posters across digital and physical mediums.
AGC use a 4.5m x 2.5m screen to display event information and athlete scores. this screen would also be used for an opening ceremony that introduced each athlete to attendees. With this in mind, the goal was to create a short motion piece for each athelete that played as they were introduced to the stage, which is shown below. In addition, I developed a setof individual pieces in portrait that were used by gymnasts to share on instagram and tiktok to help promote the event,

Process :
The process began with a phase of creative exploration, focused on identifying ways to elevate the visual direction. This exploration was ultimately distilled into two distinct stylistic approaches.
The first, a sticker style, leaned into a more grounded, tactile aesthetic. It carried a lighthearted, playful tone, with the intent of bridging the digital and physical worlds. A key component of this concept involved producing real-world stickers to be distributed at other AGC events in the lead-up to Nationals in order to further build hype, awareness, and engagement.
The second direction which we ultimately pursued, placed a stronger emphasis on the gymnasts themselves, capturing the energy, excitement, and celebratory spirit that defines AGC competitions. This approach channels the atmosphere of a party, with visual cues like confetti, streamers, and bold personality woven throughout. Despite its vibrant energy I wanted the design maintain a sense of polish and prestige which I acheved through its darker, more refined palette to pull that feeling professionalism and star power. This would be further pushed through the motion down the line.

With the creative direction locked in, I began building out the foundational motion elements. I wanted to fully immerse the gymnasts in a vibrant world of confetti, stars, and streamers so I mapped out shape placements and camera movements in Cinema 4D to establish the visual rhythm. Once that was complete, footage provided by ShotPro AU of the gymnasts was edited and brought it into After Effects, integrating the Cinema 4D data to composite and template the final piece.

Print assets :
In addition to motion deliverables, a set of print assets were also designed. These consisted of posters of each gymnast that would be hung on the outer walls of the venue as well as 'gymnast cards' that attendees could collect upon entry to the venue and then have signed by their favourite athletes at the end of the session.
