New Zealand Hurricanes
Gameday Experience
Working with KOJO, I had the privilege of leading the motion direction for the New Zealand Hurricanes' gameday content. Drawing inspiration from the dual nature of a hurricane—the serene calm of its eye and the relentless chaos of its outer winds—the design captured the essence of balance: composure intertwined with untamed energy, reflecting the spirit of Hurricanes rugby.
From a motion standpoint, my objective was to bring this intensity to life. Using Sam’s outstanding designs as a foundation, we began crafting a motion package that encompassed a diverse range of assets, both in-game and out-of-game. These included team hype segments, player profiles, and interview features.

Pixel sorting effects were employed to evoke a sense of ordered chaos, sweeping across the screen as a transitional element—giving the impression that the pixels are being spun around in the eye of the storm. For the timing of the piece, it was crucial that everything felt action-packed, strong, and fierce. My goal was to mirror the essence of a thunderstorm, with sharp, impactful cuts that flash intensely before settling, leaving the viewer in suspense, awaiting the next strike.
