BMW Dealer
of the Year awards

Event motion

For several years, KOJO has planned and delivered the BMW Dealer of the Year event across Australia and New Zealand. In 2024, BMW elevated the experience by incorporating a massive 4K LED screen behind the event presenters.

The initial design concept, crafted by Ivy, seamlessly aligned with BMW’s brand aesthetic — integrating its fonts and visual language through a dynamic blend of liquid gradients and motion blur. The result was a striking and refined visual direction.

Designer : Ivy Whelan
Motion Designer : Anthony Cristiano
Producer : Penny Tierney

Given the sheer scale of the screen, it was essential that the motion graphics felt immersive without being overpowering. As lead motion designer on the project, my intention was to infuse the space with warmth and energy, creating a sense of presence that complemented the atmosphere without diverting attention from the event itself. Each colourway was  templated, giving me flexibility to adjust animation speed, colour distribution, and effects. This approach allowed for a calibrated balance where the motion became part of the environment, enhancing rather than distracting the experience for guests.

From there we exported a series of modular assets that consisted of the award categories, speakers, and other assorted logos and overlays. These were used by technical director Peter Dyer in millumin to run the show.
